Needles for a DIME?

A fun find this week, vintage needlebooks with a lot of needles.  Can you believe the one package, Penneys "Gold-Eye" package of 20 price of 10 cents?   Next to it is the Singer package of 49 needles for 30 cents.   Sewing Susan package is of 79 needles, but no price printed on it.  Boy, what a while ago!  I love finds like this!

"BOUDOIR by Candelight"

Now that our "tent glamping" adventure is past and my daughter and I are back in our respective homes, our jobs and regular routines I reflect back on our time together and just thank the Lord for that time.  For the time we had to just be GIRLS, to share with each other in a restful, relaxing "girl fort" that we built and had a blast doing.   It was such a special time and a precious gift!  Thank you, Robin, for being a part of this with me and for being my best friend and "partner in crime". THANK YOU LORD FOR THIS GIFT !
Our tent glamping "boudoir" by candelight  . . . a peaceful reminder.

"CACKLEBERRIES"

This is the original egg scale/sizer that my mom used in her little "egg business" when we were kids. We had a henhouse with 300 laying hens in it and she had two egg routes every week. My little sister and I had the job of gathering a LOT of eggs twice daily, cleaning them and helping mom candle, package and deliver.  And, yes, she called them "cackleberries"!

the comforts of TEA

There is just something comforting and soothing about tea.  It's just so therapeutic to enjoy the warmth and aroma of a lovely cup of your favorite tea. Robin, my daughter, and I enjoyed Irish Breakfast Tea on our recent "tent glamping" trip.  Our adventure included St. Patrick's Day so we celebrated at breakfast as well.  Come over and enjoy a cup with me!

the joys of "BOUTIQUING"

I'm a fan of thrift & second hand stores! I also love antique shops, but I'm always tickled all shades of pink when the treasures from "boutiquing" at these places suit my nature as a frugal Scottish farmgirl. Just a few treasures from my last frugal "boutiquing" foray with my daughter . .a sturdy basket and antique canning jars from 1908.

these boots were made for "FARMGIRLS ON THE LOOSE"

On Friday night, Saturday, March 16th, Robin and I dressed up for supper (that's how we say it out west).  We went to the Rock Springs Cafe not far from our "glamp-site" in Black Canyon City, Arizona for some great grub and exquisitely wonderful homemade Pecan pie a la mode. The black boots are on my feet and the red ones on Robin's.  Go to the Farmgirl Connection forum and to the OUTPOST section and find the thread titled "TENT GLAMPING" - Photo Journal, for lots of pics and comments about our "glamping" trip this past weekend.  AND, come back because I still have more  pics to post!
What utter JOY to spend this time with my only daughter . . and best friend!!!!

"TENT GLAMPING" view from the back door

My daughter, Robin and I are spending some time together this week "tent glamping" in Arizona.  This is a huge saguaro cactus just outside the back door of our "glamp-site" canopy. Having a good time and enjoying some down time.  Lots of great compliments on our "glamp-site" too!  Nothing like time with your daughter and best friend!

LIVING LIFE

I love this quote from Florence Nightingale, something to ponder.

"Live your life while you have it.
Life is a splendid gift -
there is nothing small about it".

"GLAMPING" accessory

Isn't this just CA-UTE!!!   It's a little TV snack tray I found at a thrift and it is PERFECT for adding to our "glamp-site" paraphernalia.  Off we go this week . . my daughter and me!  What a treat!

HE and ME??

Well, I think this could have been Bill, my hubby and me back in the day!  We certainly could have fit  in that setting very well. Sort of looks like how we might have looked in that era. I had a doll similar to that when I was about that age.  Doll's name was Mary Ann.  What a fun picture!

Extra Special ATCs

ATCs are "Artist Trading Cards" and are a craft I've been enjoying for about two years. They are teeny, tiny expressions of art, using any medium the artist wishes . . . the size is 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.  They are fun! They are addictive!     On top is a St. Patrick's Day Farmgirl swap ATC made for me by Farmgirl Beth.  She used a crest for the "Clan Armstrong" to make it special for just me.  The middle one is a very special one made for me by Jeri who is an artist and "swapper" in a Yahoo ATC swap group I participate in.  The bottom one was made special for me by Farmgirl Sharon in a one time, one-for-one swap.  These two have been featured here as "title pictures"
THANK YOU GIRLS for the ATC TREASURES

BODHRANS & TIPPERARY

Someday I hope to own a real bodhran and learn to "play" (beat) it. This is a small bodhran and while it can be beat it is more for decorative purposes because it is not full size.  On our first trip to Ireland we were able to visit the Tipperary Crystal factory and purchase this little decanter.  The little wooden plate was made by my hubby. Ireland is such a wonderful place to visit . . hope to go again before too long!!

I'll be also making aprons from other favorite and popular prints.  Cut, cut, cut!!!  Sew, sew, sew!!!  Here we go!!!

Meet "MARGUERITE"

Meet "Marguerite" my little farmgirl angel.  She is homemade, homespun and just down to earth . . for an angel.  She has curly auburn hair, wings, a sweet face and is dressed in a farmgirl dress with pantaloons . . and she's barefoot!   I named her "Marguerite" after my mother (that's her middle name) because she just reminds me of her.  She helps keeps watch  over us as we sleep.  If you check out my "Celtic Heart" blogspot you'll find my story about guardian angels.
