Many years ago there was a railroad, called the "Galloping Goose" that traveled in the mountains near my home. This photo is of Lizard Head Pass (unfortunately the Lizard Head is out of view) with a summit on the highway of 10,000 but there are three of Colorado's famous "Fourteener" peaks here as well.
Sheep used to be herded into these pens for transportation by the train, but that no longer happens. I do think that the pens are still used, occasionally, for cattle or sheep that might be pastured in the high country in the summer. They would be transported by trucks.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Since adult coloring books are the rage right now, I was reminded of how therapeutic coloring can be. I have done coloring as an adult but it's been a while. My daughter and I found some books at Michaels . . . I bought one and dug out my coloring pencils. This is my first page and I call it "Purple Mountain Majesty". It isn't quite like the mountains I see out my window here in southwest Colorado it makes me think of them! It was fun and relaxing! But now I need more colors!CeeJayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02061020299953755876noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8780060995662818869.post-30975704487432681302015-07-13T12:03:00.001-07:002015-07-13T12:05:33.388-07:00GONE GLAMPING

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Out two different times with my daughter and glamping partner, Robin, in the "Reiver's Rest". It was WONDERFUL!
This is only a small glimpse of how we set up our glampsite. Used an antique wooden ironing board ($3.00 at a local thrift store) with a vintage tablecloth with Scottish thistle design on it (gift from a farmgirl friend), repurposed/decorated Stanley thermos bottle for flower vase, crocheted hat, watering can, solar lights, apron, etc. to help camoflage the trailer tongue/hitch! Used a ruffled curtain panel to cover the tongue and a salvage yard find fireplace screen on the other side. We love the result!
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">As is typical in our part of the country we get a mix of weather in the springtime. For a while we'd been having warm weather but with our usual spring winds on some days (not pleasant!). This week brought in clouds, cooler temps and then about two inches of very wet snow last night. It's melting quickly but I decided to use some of it to get some moisture into the potting soil in some pots I want to use. Want to plant herbs in one and sweet flowers in one . . . not sure yet about the third one. But this will moisten the soil in a gradual manner!CeeJayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02061020299953755876noreply@blogger.com1
