"DRIP IRRIGATION" . . . SPRINGTIME IN COLORADO STYLE

As is typical in our part of the country we get a mix of weather in the springtime.  For a while we'd been having warm weather but with our usual spring winds on some days (not pleasant!).  This week brought in clouds, cooler temps and then about two inches of very wet snow last night. It's melting quickly but I decided to use some of it to get some moisture into the potting soil in some pots I want to use.  Want to plant herbs in one and sweet flowers in one . . . not sure yet about the third one.  But this will moisten the soil in a gradual manner!

YELLOW CROCUS

I love the first signs of spring and on a recent trip to our local greenhouse/nursery (which is less than two miles from my house) I spotted these beauties showing all their glory at the entrance.  This was taken about a month ago so I'm sure they're probably gone by now, so I'm glad I took the pic so I can continue to enjoy them!

HOME, HOME on the RANGE

A couple of days ago when my hubby and I took our morning "cow check" walk out to the pasture to say "HI" to our little herd of Longhorns, I decided this was a photo op moment.  We have eight cows, one of which is a 4-month old heifer calf.  There are four steers . . . all in line for the freezer . . . two "momma" cows and one heifer. They were contentedly munching away at the new grass. The trees are cedar and grow naturally in our part of the country.

"ALASDAIR" is HIS NAME!

Well, I couldn't resist this cute little garden gnome from Hobby Lobby.  He's about 12 inches tall, has a spade and a frog at his feet.  The leaf is hanging from a loop that is supposed to look like a zipper pull.
I'm thinking that he'll make great decoration at our glampsite by our "Reiver's Rest" glamper.  It is Scottish/cottage/shabby chic themed.  He looks Scottish to me!  My hubby says he has lots of character!
